If varicose veins, what to do?

leg pain with varicose veins

Varicose veins is a vein disease, which is characterized by an increase in size, a change in shape and a decrease in elasticity. Superficial veins of the lower leg, rectal venous plexus, portal system veins and spermatic cord are mostly affected.

The development of varicose veins is facilitated by difficulties with the outflow of blood through the venous system during a systematic prolonged stay on the legs related to professional activities, compression of the pelvic veins by the uterus during pregnancy, congestion in the pelvic veins, for example, with systematic constipation, sedentary work, etc.

Sitting slows circulation and makes blood stagnate. Long periods of inactivity and sitting can destroy the liver of people who sit for a long time, deep calf vein thrombosis can develop. It is dangerous to sit with your legs crossed, because you can press on the popliteal artery, which will cause congestion in the vein.

Clothes and shoes should not be tight, as this can also slow down blood flow. Walking on grass, dirt, or just barefoot around the house improves blood circulation and strengthens the heart. Congenital weakness of the venous wall and lack of venous valves predispose to this disease. Ulcers can develop over time due to lack of nutrients with blood.

One of the early symptoms of this disease is a feeling of heaviness in the legs, dull or sharp pain and cramps at night. If left untreated, varicose veins become hard and dense over time, and ulcers and bleeding often appear on the legs.

Varicose veins that form in the scrotum are called varicocele (varicose veins of the spermatic cord). If they appear in the rectum, then they are called hemorrhoids.

Phlebitis (inflammation of veins), varicose ulcers, severe itching, skin discoloration (which often turns copper red) are common complications of this condition. But only a small proportion of those with varicose veins develop varicose ulcers. People with varicose veins are considered to have congenital, weak-walled veins.

But weak vascular walls are most likely the result of poor nutrition, toxemia, conservation (a lowered nervous state) and lack of exercise. In most cases, when varicose veins form during pregnancy, they disappear after delivery. With the help of sufficiently active physical exercises, varicose veins that arise during pregnancy can be eliminated even if the woman is in position.

Unsuccessful surgery to remove or drain the vein The use of stockings or elastic bandages to support the vein is only half the size and eventually leads to tissue weakness until the condition becomes chronic or more difficult to treat.
